When you cut your calories and reduce portion sizes, you might easily cut your nutrient intake in the process. These 5 tips will help you replace high calorie foods with nutrient rich foods to make sure your body gets everything it needs while you slim down and get healthy on your fat burning diet.
Don't Eliminate Food Groups
When you completely eliminate a food group from your diet, you cut out all of the nutrients that are normally obtained from the food.
Instead of cutting out all breads and cereals, replace them with whole grain products that offer greater nutrition and more fiber.
Replace unhealthy fats with smaller amounts of healthy fats found in olive oil, avocados and nuts. These healthier foods are lower in calories and high in nutrition. They will help you lose weight and stay healthy.
Don't Eat Empty Calories
Sugar, refined carbohydrates and unhealthy fats are often referred to as empty calories because they are low in nutritional value.
These foods have the potential to quickly derain your fat burning diet. Satisfy your sugar cravings with a piece of fruit. Fruit is high in fiber and nutrients and sweet enough to help satisfy your sweet tooth8.
Don't Crash Diet
Crash diets cause the body to shift into starvation mode and lower the metabolic rate. This means your body is burning fewer calories than previously, and will continue to burn fewer calories for an extended time.
Our bodies were designed this way to preserve energy during periods of starvation. Another side effect of crash dieting is that once the calorie intake increases, the body will begin to store fat at an increased rate to save up for the next period of starvation.
Don't Skip the Workout
Exercise is important to the weight loss process. It increases the metabolism for an extended period, causing the body to burn more calories even at rest.
Exercise is good for your heart and overall health and it can quickly supercharge your fat burning diet. Just increasing your normal daily activity is beneficial if you have trouble getting started.
Check with your doctor before starting an intense exercise routine.
Don't Try to Rush Weight Loss
Your weight loss goals should be long term goals. When you take it slow, you develop healthy habits that will help you keep the weight off.
If you try to lose 10 pounds in 10 days, you will probably gain 15 back shortly after going off the diet.
These five bad habits can derail your fat burning diet and sabotage your health. Look at your diet as a long term goal and develop a healthy lifestyle that takes the weight off slowly.
