1 apple, cored and sliced
6 strawberries, fresh or thawed from frozen
1/2 orange, peeled and sectioned
Process the fruit in a juicer and serve.
Sparkling Tropical Juice
1/2 mango, peeled and sliced
1 orange, peeled and sectioned
Process the fruit in a juicer and serve.
Peach-Pear-Apple Juice
2 peaches, remove seed
1 pear, sliced
1 apple, cored and sliced
Process through a juicer and serve.
Gingered Apple Cidar
3 apples, cored and sliced
1 inch piece ginger
Process through a juicer and serve.

Homemade Facial Mask for Sallow Looking Oily Complexions with Blemishes
Mix 3 teaspoons of kaolin with half a teaspoon each of rose-water, glycerine and tincture of benzoin; both kaolin and tincture of benzoin can easily be procured at the drug shop.
Apply the homemade facial mask with a brush, leave it on for 30 minutes and wash it off with warm water. Your skin will appear soft and smooth with a glowing colour.
Homemade Beauty Tonic for Oily Skin
Whisk one egg white until it thickens, then whisk in 1 teaspoon of honey. Finally add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply to your face and neck avoiding the delicate eye and lip areas. Leave it on for 10 minutes and wash with warm water.
What are Allergies?
Stories of friends and family members unable to enjoy certain foods, participate in activities, or participate in particular environments are all too common.
In fact, 50 million Americans are estimated to have allergies.
This means that a great number of people live with certain lifestyle 'limitations' by what we've come to know as an allergy, which is what an adverse reaction by the immune system to any foreign substance is called.
There is no clear apparent medical reason why people contract allergies, but one thing remains clear: the condition is indiscriminate in its coverage and may affect us regardless of age, gender, or race.
Commonly, however, the allergy manifests in our infancy or childhood, although some symptoms may appear at any age or may reappear after any period of apparent inactivity.
Most allergies are largely insignificant and may be dealt with by simple lifestyle choices; however, there is a possibility of them either adversely affecting our daily life, or perhaps life-threatening conditions.
This is the reason why we must first understand how an allergic reaction happens, and more importantly, what we can do by ourselves or with the help of a doctor to detect allergies.
In such a way, we will be able to make sure we are not on the threshold of any harm, but also enjoy life without having to worry about dramatic allergic reactions.
When allergies come to the fore, we usually say that it has been 'triggered', implying that the body has been exposed to a 'trigger' that activated the allergy from within.
These 'triggers', known as potential allergens, may be animal fur and dander, feathers, mites, house dust, pollen, cockroach droppings, insect stings, chemicals (like perfumes, and even our everyday cosmetics like shampoos and soaps!) and dyes, medication, synthetic fiber, and a huge variety of food and drinks.
In the event of an allergy, our immune system, which normally wards off unwanted foreign substances in our bodies like parasites, bacteria, and dirt, mistakenly identifies common harmless objects (what we have identified as allergens earlier on) as something it must destroy.
It then releases antibodies that cause bodily manifestations or 'symptoms'.
Knowing what happens in our bodies, we can now better understand how to detect allergies when possible symptoms surface. In essence, we are familiar with some common symptoms that have been associated with allergies.
These include swollen, red, itchy lumps in the skin, tissue swelling, runny nose, rash, hives, watery or itchy eyes, and sneezing.
Alone or in various combinations, you may consider these as symptoms of allergies if, when repeatedly exposed to certain substances, your body manifests any of the prior conditions. Some people, for example, notice increased appearance of these symptoms over seasonal changes.
These seasonal allergies may help you learn more about what particular allergens are being triggered.
An allergic reaction that you may experience only upon the arrival of Spring may imply that you are allergic to grass, pollen, or a variety of other natural substances you may encounter when you are enjoying some outdoor activities that you only engage in during the Spring. REST AND SLEEP.
All the parts of the human body work together, although each one has its especial part to do. The stomach must have a time to rest between meals. The other parts of the body require rest, too. This they usually get while we are asleep.
We must not be neglectful and fail to give them enough rest, or they will soon get worn out and give us trouble.
Sometimes, when people are not well or are all tired out, they find they cannot sleep well at night. There are a number of little things that can be done to induce sleep. A warm bath before retiring, followed by a gentle massage, especially along the spine, often will, by relaxing the nerves and muscles, produce very good results.
A hot foot bath, which draws the blood away from the brain, frequently will be found beneficial. A glass of hot milk or cocoa, taken just before retiring, often will have the same effect. If the sleeplessness is a result of indigestion, a plain diet will relieve.
Sleeping upon a hard bed without any pillow sometimes produces the desired effect. Always have plenty of fresh air in the room.
Keep the mind free from the cares of the day. If they will intrude, crowd them out by repeating something else some soothing sentence or bit of poetry.
One good plan is to close the left nostril by pressing on it with the finger, then take four deep breaths through the right nostril.
Then close the right nostril and take four deep breaths through the left one. Repeat this about four times. Then breathe slowly through both nostrils, but count your breaths.
You seldom will count very many. Never take any sleeping powders or tablets except upon the advice of a physician, for they usually contain drugs that will injure the heart.
You will find that you will meet a number of men who are nervous, which means they have not control of their nerves, but let them run away with them. Sometimes this is shown in palpitation of the heart, headache, backache, and many other disorders.
There may be a tendency to cry at trivial things, or a feeling of having "the blues." The cause usually can be found in uncongenial surroundings or occupation, loss of friends, or real or fancied troubles
. Whatever the cause, it should be removed, if possible, and measures taken to restore the worn out nerves that are crying for rest or food.
Tonics help, so does nourishing food, such as eggs and milk; also a change of scene and occupation, if possible.
A man who is nervous frequently does not realize what is the cause of his condition, and considers only the symptoms.
So when he has a headache, resorts to medicine. In taking these she only is deadening the pain and not removing the cause, so the pain is liable to return.

Dear Beloved Pets:
The proper order is kiss me, THEN go smell the other dog or cat's
butt. I cannot stress this enough!
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The
other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw
print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it
becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing
in the slightest.
The stairs were not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack.
Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help
because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king-sized bed. I am very sorry
about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to
ensure your comfort.
Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is
not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to
the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight
out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is
nothing but a scam.
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom . If
by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it
is not necessary to claw, whine, bark, meow, try to turn the knob or
get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must
exit through the same door I entered.
Also, I have been using the bathroom for years -- canine or feline
attendance is not mandatory.
To return the kindness of your obedience, my dear pets, I have posted
the following on our front door so visitors to our home know what the
rules are here:

2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the
furniture. That's why they call it "fur"niture.
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4 To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted children who are
short, hairy and walk on all fours. Although they don't speak
clearly, they communicate extremely well.
5. Dogs and cats are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for
money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called
(this does not apply to cats), NEVER drive your car, don't hang out
with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about
having to buy the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't
need a gazillion dollars for college.
