One Minute Power Tip:
Instead of thinking about where you are, think about where you want to be. It takes twenty years of hard work to become an overnight success. - Diana Rankin famous quote
It's Good to Know: Optimists Live Longer Than Pessimists
Optimistic people live longer than pessimists, according to a Mayo Clinic study that was started in the 1960's. The 900 subjects were initially classified as optimists, pessimists, or a bit of both.
Then, recently, researchers looked at the status of the test subjects as compared with their expected survival rates when the study began.
Optimists had a significantly better survival rate, while there was a 20% increase in the risk of death for the pessimists.
Although the report did not try to explain why positive attitude was equated with longevity, it did say that optimists may be less likely to develop depression and helplessness and that they might be more proactive in taking care of themselves

Cooking Apples
Apple pie or apple cobbler can be made vegan fashion with evaporated cane juice for sweetener and whole-grain pastry flour for the crust. A little non-hydrogenated vegetable oil makes an excellent fat substitute if needed.
Applesauce: Peel and core apples. Cut into slices, put them into a saucepan, and add a little water or apple juice to cover the bottom of the pot. Cover pot, start heat on high, and bring to a boil.
Turn heat down to medium, and cook gently, about 15 minutes, stirring often and checking liquid to prevent burning.
When soft, the apples can be mashed for a textured applesauce or put through a food mill or food processor for a smoother texture. Add any spices, flavoring extracts, and sweeteners to taste and cook for another minute or two to set the flavors. Cool and store in the refrigerator.
Apple Butter: Apple butter begins with the preparation of applesauce, then spices are added and the mixture is cooked longer. After adding the spices, flavorings, and sweetener, remove the pot lid, and continue cooking over medium-low heat until the mixture becomes very thick, stirring frequently.
The process may take an hour or two depending on the water content of the apples. Cool thoroughly before refrigerating.
As an alternative, you can bake your pureed, spiced apples in a shallow pan in the oven at 300 (gas mark 2) for 2 hours until thickened. With either method, check for doneness by putting a little dollop of apple butter on a dish and turning the dish upside down. The mixture should stick to the plate.
If you plan to make a large quantity for gift giving, have hot sterilized jars ready and spoon your hot apple butter into the jars, leaving only 1/8-inch at the top. Seal immediately and cool.

INTRODUCTION
There was a time in history when there was no awareness of the prostate, let alone diagnosis and treatment.
Countless numbers of men throughout the ages have suffered and died as a result of this ignorance.
Through the miracles of modern medicine, today prostate disease is well defined and is no longer necessarily considered a death sentence.
The most effective methods for handling prostate disease are knowledge and prevention.
In our guide we will help you understand prostate disease, various diagnostic tools and provide recommendations for treatment.
WHAT IS THE PROSTATE?
The first step toward understanding how the prostate affects your health is to learn what the prostate is and how it functions.
It is surprising how little many men know about such an important part of their anatomy.
The prostate is an important segment of the male reproductive system.
It is a gland that is located in the lower abdominal cavity, just below the bladder, in front of the rectum and behind the pubic bone. It partially surrounds the urethra.
The urethra is the channel that carries urine to the penis from the bladder and it runs right through the prostate.
A healthy prostate is about the size of a walnut, weighs approximately 1 ounce and is shaped similar to a donut.
There are “seminal vesicles” that are attached to the prostate. They produce a protein that mixes with prostatic fluid which forms semen.
How this works is that tubes from the testicles carry sperm up to the prostate where sperm is mixed with the seminal vesicle and prostatic fluids.
This fluid is ejaculated during orgasm through ejaculatory ducts that connect to the urethra. In addition, the prostate helps to control the flow of urine.
Nearly every man will experience some type of prostate problem during his lifetime. Men who are over forty-five may experience an enlargement of the prostate.
While this is not a problem in itself, it is uncomfortable and can be a forerunner to other more serious maladies which we will discuss further.
The prostate actually continues to grow throughout life, but grows very slowly after the age of twenty-five.
Enlargement of the prostate is part of the normal aging process due to hormonal changes and usually does not become a serious problem until a man reaches sixty years of age.

Natural Cures Health Tip:
To Win the Race of Your Life ... Put the Right Fuel in the Tank
The adage "Garbage in, garbage out" can be applied to many things. But nowhere is it more appropriate than in terms of what you eat.
To achieve perfect health, you must put high-quality fuel in your body. The right foods will boost your energy, improve your clarity, optimize your weight, increase your lifespan, and protect you from illness.
It's best to eat four to six small meals a day. Whenever possible, those meals should be made up of organic, whole foods.
Here are the basics to help you choose the healthiest macronutrients:
1. Protein
Every meal should be based upon a healthy source of protein. If you eat animal products, choose those from animals that are raised on their natural diet. This includes free-range poultry and eggs, wild fish, raw unpasteurized dairy, and grass-fed meats. Nuts, beans, and some protein powders are also good sources of protein.
2. Fat
A high-fat diet is very healthy - as long as you choose the RIGHT fats. Healthy fats should come from naturally raised animals, fish oil, olive oil, coconut oil, walnut and macadamia oils, vegetables, nuts, and avocadoes. Avoid processed vegetable and seed oils and the dreaded "hydrogenated" oils (trans-fats).
3. Carbohydrates
Your carbs should come from sources that have a low glycemic load - non-starchy vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, whole fruits, and berries. Avoid sugar, soft drinks, fruit juices, refined flour, refined grains, and starches.
