Anti Snoring Pillow Guide

Obstructive sleep apnea or snoring as it is better known, is the situation where the relaxed muscles of the throat allow a brief collapse and blocking of the air passage during sleep, can cause many problems including chronic fatigue, headaches, mood swings and depression among other things.
The relationship problems caused by the snoring it produces can also be severe. Of the non surgical and non medicinal treatments one can obtain to help with this dilemma is a properly configured anti snoring pillow.
The gravitational pull on the relaxed muscles of the body during sleep can have an especial effect on the throat muscles as this area comprises mostly soft tissues. Therefore the downward pull when a person is sleeping on their back can be extreme. This effect is increased with alcohol consumption or a condition of obesity.
While the effects of obstructive sleep apnea are minimized by sleeping on one's side of stomach, it is not easy to maintain that position throughout the sleep cycle. For those who by nature tend to sleep on their backs, anti snoring pillows are designed to hold the head and shoulders at a 30% angle from the horizontal, thus providing enough lift that the gravitational pull does not narrow the breathing passage in the throat.
Most anti snoring pillows are made of a stiff foam material shaped like a wedge. The anti snoring pillow has a great advantage over regular pillows in that the shape and angle is constant and not subject to weight depression or arbitrary head position or movement during sleep. The weight of a person's body holds the wide back of the anti snoring pillow firmly in place for maximum help in preventing snoring during sleep.
One of the best pillows on the market is the Sensor Anti Snore pillow from the company France Bed. It uses leading edge technology like memory foam and an audio sensor that can detect snoring and respond with a light vibration that can reduce snoring. There are three detection levels in the pillow so even the lightest sounds will be picked up if you choose to set the pillow to react in such a way.
This is a highly recommended pillow as it contains various control panel options so you can set up the pillow as you wish. You may think twice at paying over $400 for a pillow however considering the major positive impact it can have on your sleep, it is well worth the cost. In fact, $400 seems like a small price to pay to change your life for the better.
