Choosing the Right Anti-Aging Cream for Your Skin Type!

by Gail Broughton
(Boston, Mass. US)

As you start to get older you become fussier about the skin cream that you use and will often purchase one based on its anti-aging abilities. However, it is also very important to consider your skin type when choosing skin cream.

Not everyone has the same skin type so there isn’t one cream that will be effective for everybody. To get the most effective result from a skin cream it is best to purchase one that is designed for your type of skin.

So if you’re friend recommends a face cream to you because they have seen fantastic results with it, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will have the same results. If you’re friend has a different skin type to you, then the cream that works for them could possibly even make your skin worse.

Let’s take a look at the different skin types and the type of skin care cream that you should use for each type.

Normal Skin:

If you have a normal skin type then you are fairly lucky as this type is quite well balanced and generally does quite well with most anti-aging creams.

A simple anti-aging moisturizing cream, preferably with a sun screen included, will work well for a day cream. For night time, select a light anti-aging lotion for normal skin type.

Dry Skin:

If you tend to have dry skin then choose an anti-aging skin care cream that is oil based, preferably one that includes a sun screen and contains hyaluronic acid.

The hyaluronic acid works to keep the moisture in the skin and avoids moisture loss due to weather and other drying elements.

Oily Skin:

If you have oily skin then obviously you don’t want to add to it by using a skin cream that is oil based. So you will want to look for an anti-aging skin care lotion that is water-based or oil-free.

A moisturizer that includes tea tree oil, geranium or camphor can work really well for oily skin as they contain oil-regulating properties.

Sensitive Skin:

If you have sensitive skin then you might have found that your skin reacts to some skin lotions. There are many skin care creams on the market that take sensitive skin into consideration and are usually labelled as hypoallergenic.

With sensitive skin you will need to find a skin care lotion that is for your right skin type (normal, dry or oily) as well as being hypoallergenic. So it can be a little more difficult to find a good moisturizing cream but once you find one with the right qualities it will give you good results.

Conclusion:

Remember, to get the best results from your anti-aging skin care products you do need to consider your skin type and purchase accordingly. If you aren’t sure which skin type you are or which product is best for your skin type, ask an assistant who should be able to help you out.

The right skin care cream for your skin type can keep you looking younger and help you to have healthy, smooth skin for many years to come.
