Home Remedy for Yeast Infection: Things You Can Do To Ease the Symptoms

Finding a home remedy for yeast infection is often crucial if other treatments have failed, or if you’re suffering from recurring yeast infections. Unfortunately, treatments aren’t always successful for everyone, and it might take time to find the one that really works for you.
Things You Can Do To Ease the Symptoms
The first home remedy for yeast infection should be to cut out any harmful products from your routine.
Things like perfumed soaps, vaginal deodorants and shower gels can all irritate the area and increase yeast. You should also avoid douching which puts the bacteria in the vagina out of balance.
Other things that can irritate the area include tight fitting clothing or synthetic materials, latex condoms and certain lubricants. Try to wear loose fitting clothes and cotton underwear to help ease symptoms.
Probiotics
Probiotics are a form of “good bacteria” – the kind of bacteria that keeps things in balance, including yeast. When a yeast infection occurs, it’s because the yeast and good bacteria are out of balance.
This is why getting more good bacteria into your diet can help to cure and soothe yeast infections.
This type of bacteria comes in the form of probiotics, and is known as lactobacillus. This is usually found in the vagina, but you can help give your body a natural healing boost by taking more of it in.
This bacteria is found in many types of yoghurt, so try eating yoghurt regularly, or applying it directly, to relieve the symptoms.
Preventing Yeast Infection
Unfortunately, finding a home remedy for yeast infection is a lot more difficult than simply preventing the condition from occurring in the first place.
If you’re prone to yeast infections then it’s important that you avoid douching, and don’t use any fragranced products, such as soaps or tampons. All of this can upset the natural balance of the vagina.
On top of this, avoid very hot baths and change out of wet swimsuits as quickly as possible. Wear cotton underwear with loose fitting clothing: tight fitting clothing provides the perfect conditions for the overgrowth of yeast.
Make Sure You Go About Things The Right Way
If you’ve never had a yeast infection before then it’s important to visit your doctor for a diagnosis.
Once you have, you might also want to try over the counter medications which are often effective when used alongside the self help techniques mentioned above.
