Keeping Count Of Your Cholesterol

by Andrea Stacey
(New Jersey, USA)

Aging is never easy. You cannot be as carefree as you were when you were younger. At this point in your life, you need to be careful of what you eat and do.

If you aren’t conscious of what you eat, you could be increasing your levels of bad cholesterol. Eating a lot of junk and fatty foods will increase your risk of a heart attack & other aging diseases.

If you want to live a long full life, you need to make necessary lifestyle changes. A heart attack or a stroke can do so much on your body.

Healing won’t be as easy if you’ve experienced any one of the two. If you’ve noticed that your cholesterol has reached unhealthy or dangerous levels, you need to change your diet and even take some form of medication.

You also may want to include exercise in your daily routine. Just make sure that you don’t tire yourself out too much.

Aside from that, you also may want to remove any unhealthy habit that you do.

For one thing, it is necessary that you stop smoking. You are very familiar with how smoking can destroy your lungs.

Not only will you be constantly short of breath, you also put yourself at risk for lung cancer and emphysema. What people don’t really know is that smoking can reduce your levels of HDL cholesterol.

This is important that you keep your HDL levels up if you want to stay as active as you were.

As you go through your daily routine, you may be too preoccupied with too much work. You know how stress can destroy your health.

This has long been known to raise your blood pressure and heart rate at scary levels. As your body experiences anxiety, it produces more glucose and fatty acids.

When more of these two substances are produced, your liver may also be required to manufacture more LDL cholesterols so that they can carry what you eat all around your body.

When your body has enough HDL in it, you are able to remove excess cholesterol and bring it back to the liver for further processing.

Should something cause you too much stress, you may want to find ways to relax. Find an outlet for your frustrations and make sure that your methods aren’t harmful.

Of course, as mentioned earlier, you also need to exercise more often. Cardio vascular exercises are very beneficial to your heart because it is able to strengthen the muscles at work.

Your body will also be more able to reduce LDL levels and boost HDL levels. You will notice that your muscles will be toned in a few weeks time. Moreover, a good workout helps clear away clots formed in your blood vessels.

A good exercise would be walking, cycling, and swimming. Just make sure that you do at least 30 minutes of good workout.

Every time you eat, make sure that you avoid saturated fats. Use more monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats in your recipes. Look into eating more lean meat, chicken, and fish.

The last one in particular gives you the Omega 3 that you need. Also have starchy foods, vegetables, and fruits on your plate.
