Q- We are told that the body processes foods via three different methods. Those methods are digestion, absorption and transport. Can you explain each of these methods beginning with digestion? A- I would just look at it very simply and explain that first you have to consume the food to get it into digestion and then at that point the digestive process starts and the proteins that are composed of peptides and the acids go into action and start to break the protein down. The protein would be broken down into it’s simplest form and when the complex protein gets broke down it is then ready for absorption by your body and then once it is absorbed into your body it has to be transported to those sites in your body that would use the broken down units. In the case of protein that would be the amino acids. The amino acids would be transported to wherever they were needed, muscle tissue or organ tissue. Then the transport method would actually be the blood stream. It is true for any of the big building clocks like the carbohydrates would be broken down and transported and the fats as well.
Q- We see so many advertisements about digestion and heart burn and apparently what it does is block the acid production in your stomach, which probably isn’t good for you. Don’t you need those acids? A- Well you know if you have an overproduction of acids in your stomach either you can irritate the lining of your esophagus. Obviously you want to reduce the acidity in your stomach and I think in most cases there is enough acid in your stomach for most digestive processes to take place. You know it is not just acids that digest the food in your stomach. When we were talking about lactose intolerant and sugars getting digested, the lactaid acts on the sugars lactose and breaks down the sugar lactose into two simpler sugars by the enzyme lactaid. It’s not just the acidity in your stomach it is much more like the muscle action of the stomach.
The Villi – gateway to correct nutrition
A critical link here is the lining of the small intestine. It is lined with tiny finger-like protrusions, called villi, which increase the surface area of your intestines by up 160 times. There are approximately 2 million of these tiny villi per square centimetre, so you can imagine how delicate they are. This helps process foods more effectively and provides a massive surface area through which to absorb nutrients. Our diet and environment destroys this balance. High sugar and processed food intake, drugs, alcohol, soft drinks, pollution, and even stress, help to destroy or impair the function of the villi, reducing the available surface area dramatically. The frightening result? We supply our body with inferior foods with limited nutritional value. We then ask our body to process this food and absorb the reduced level of nutrition through an impaired system, and expect the powerhouses of the body, our cells, to work properly! The cells can’t do the impossible! What would happen if you supplied your car with crude oil to run on instead of petrol, and hen only allowed it 10% of what it needs? I don’t think you would get far. Reality is we spend more time, effort and money on our cars than we do on our own bodies. That is why most people in this society do not enjoy dynamic health. That is why lethal disease states are on the increase. That is why we need to find a way to get dynamic nutrition into your body in a form it can readily assimilate and use at a cellular level. The key to correct cell nutrition is to: • Help repair the damage we do to our system so that absorption of nutrients is possible • Absorb those nutrients in a balanced form and transfer those nutrients into the blood circulation system • Use the finest nutrients available to rebuild the body It makes sense that, if nutritional deficiencies and excesses are causing malfunctions and disease states, if we reverse the process your body has the best possible chance to create optimum health. In our experience the only people who do not suffer from some degree of nutritional deficiency are those lucky souls who live in an unpolluted environment and grow their own produce in fertile soils, eating it as soon as it’s picked with little or no cooking.
