Natural Cures
- Pilates In Older Age

by Fran Carter
(San Francisco, California, USA)

The good news is, the older generation has realized just how important exercise really is!.

Whereas years before, people immediately assume that once they age, it is time to relax and take it easy. Of course, these are the people who suffered through old age.

Many fitness buffs have done several programs just to get the toned body they have always desired. They strive to make the best of what they have so that they stay as strong for as long as possible.

Yes, everybody should get into a form of exercise so that you can put your health and body out of harm's way. To further reduce the risk of osteoporosis, it is also suggested that you have a form of strength training so that you improve the quality of the muscles that warp around your bones.

Sometimes, too many health requirements confuse a person. You need to do so much of one thing that planning the regimen may be too daunting and tiring.

The solution to this may be Pilates. This form of exercise is now used by most fitness-conscious individuals. They swear to the benefits they’ve enjoyed once they decided to be serious about the workout. Fact is, Pilates may be the best thing you can do to slow down aging. Plus, this exercise benefits all, young and old alike.

If you are too busy to go the gym, you can do Pilates right in the comfort of your very own home. All you need to do is a get a copy of a DVD and set a schedule.

Imagine how easy that is? Pilates exercises starts from the center of the body, stays, and ends on it. It concentrates on the middle area where every part of your body meets.
The older generation has also enjoyed the benefits of Pilates.

The biggest one is having a sturdy spine so that your balance is extremely good. Osteoporosis can be prevented because it works on improving the posture of older people. This is a perfect form of exercise because it is low on impact when compared to the other forms of exercise.

This simply means that it won’t put severe stress on your joints when you go through the poses and movements. Unlike other exercises that focus on repetitions, Pilates works on breathing and quality-controlled movements.

Moreover, Pilates works the core strength. It elongates and strengthens the muscles so that your joints become more flexible. Because it is not meant to tire out the individual, this is actually perfect for older people.

Pilates is not only unique, it was designed to make you stronger, more flexible, and less likely to fall because you teach your body to use every single muscle you have.

Concentration and correct breathing are also part of the regimen so that you are able to recruit the smaller, supportive muscles to help the bigger ones.

Moreover, the fact that it works on the core center of your body makes this extremely effective because this is the place from which all motion originates. Every movement is stabilized because the muscles in charge of it have been primed.
