Women And Menopause

There are two major life-turning physiological events in a woman’s life: menarche and menopause.
While menarche is the start of a woman’s menstrual cycle, menopause is the complete cessation of menstrual period.
It is both a welcomed and dreaded turning point: welcomed because you don’t have to cope up with the monthly hassle of having periods; dreaded because it means the start of a series of physiological and physical changes in a woman’s physique.
Menopause starts once the female stops ovulating. The ovum or egg cells are produced in the ovaries, the organs in the body responsible for producing estrogen and progesterone.
These hormones are responsible for regulating the menstrual cycle and also aid in pregnancy. Once the ovaries start to stop producing egg cells, the production of these hormones will also start to decrease. You will then cease in having menstrual periods.
Causes of MenopauseA Natural Body Occurrence:A lot of theories have been postulated regarding the onset of menopause. Basically, all of them all arrive in one thing: the decline of a woman’s biological clock. A woman can produce only a certain amount of egg cells.
The supply is unlimited, and to some it is not that abundant. Once the egg cells have all been released through countless menstrual cycles, it is inevitable for a woman to start experiencing menopause.
Surgery:Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) will cause cessation of menses in a way that there would be no more uterine lining to be shed. Still, your body is still able to produce estrogen and progesterone, thereby maintaining still the natural balance of your body.
True surgical menopause occurs when both ovaries are removed, affecting the production of estrogen and progesterone. Even if you still have a uterus, but you no longer have ovaries to produce egg cells and hormones for menstruation you will no longer shed uterine lining or have menstrual periods.
Chemotherapy & Radiation Therapy: These cancer treatments, especially if localized in the abdominal area, can cause a disruption in the function of the ovaries.
Medical Condition: Primary ovarian insufficiency can be the cause of menopause in some women as early as 40 years of age. Because genetic or environmental factors, your ovaries will fail to produce adequate amounts of estrogen and progesterone, hastening the onset of menopause.
